Grim Kino with Mathea Roland

We are very proud to present Mathea Roland as the invited curator for an upcoming edition of GRIM KINO.
Mathea Roland invites you into a situation where cinema expands beyond the screen and into the architecture surrounding it. The evening takes its name from the film FASADE by Ingrid Liavaag and Ingri Enger Damon. As the title might suggest; it will be projected onto the façade of the building. On the other side of the walls, performers move through the floors, visible to the audience through the windows. The Old Mill - once a place of industrial activity and later marked by long periods of neglect, now enters another phase of attention and care. In dialogue with the film, the architecture functions as scene, screen and participant at the same time.
The film by Damon and Liavaag follows three women in three separate rooms who find themselves in similar conflicts. Private moments become visible from the street, shifting the relationship between interior space and public viewing.
The filmmakers will join for a moderated conversation following the screening. The talk will reflect on the development of the film, and on the artistic methods that shaped the work. Drawing on the writing practice of Gertrude Stein, particularly her idea of language as a continual presence, Damon and Liavaag will speak about how circular and landscape-based dramaturgies informed their approach to combining film and live performance in public space.
The talk will take place inside after the outdoors screening, please dress accordingly. In the culinary laboratory we will prepare drinks and snacks inspired by the season and the first signs of spring appearing in the landscape around us.
