CIR / Grim kino - Art film program

Grim Kino is GRAC’s year-round programme for moving image and art film, featuring monthly screenings curated by invited curators. The programme presents existing works within video art, experimental film, and cross-disciplinary practices, exploring moving image as a visual and spatial medium in dialogue with other art forms.
Each screening is shaped by a guest curator in residence, who develops a thematic programme of one or more works. Curators are invited both directly and through an open call, and each is given a budget to select and present existing works, framing them within a curatorial concept.
Grim Kino encourages an expanded approach to film presentation. Artists and curators are invited to activate the full potential of the space, working with light, sound, performance, installation, and scenography. With access to GRAC’s technical setup, as well as possibilities for experience design, food, and drinks serving, each screening becomes a unique and immersive event that moves beyond the traditional cinema format.
Screenings take place in GRAC’s flexible venue and are often accompanied by introductions, conversations, or other forms of public engagement. The programme is open to both a professional art audience and a wider public, and aims to strengthen access to and understanding of moving image within the contemporary art field in the region.
